Finding beauty in a bottle of spilled salad dressing

Messes can be beautfiul

I knocked over the salad dressing when I placed the lettuce on the kitchen counter. The counter was covered with oil and vinegar. It was very messy.

My first response was to be annoyed. “Oh, crap, now look what I’ve done. What a mess.”

Then I noticed  patterns in the oil.

And they were beautiful.

I just love the way you think Pamela! I wish I could have that perspective more often!

    • Hi Talia,
Thank you for your kind words. Annie the dog chewed a full box of q tips today. I still haven’t swept up the mess.
We have to sweep anyhow, so it doesn’t matter if we sweep up one ear cleaner of a box of them.
Maybe it is a learned skill. Looking for beauty. I mean. Beauty in the crayon marks on the wall. Beauty in using your underwear to hold your plastic sword. Beauty in the flowers in the lawn. Beauty in a sink full of dirty dishes.
      Beauty because we are alive.
      Sending you hugs.
      xo

  • I saw a beautiful pink sunrise that looked like cotton candy, and it turned into a lovely hot summer day that smelled like Coppertone.

    • What time did you have to wake up to see cotton candy? Just think of all the people who sleep through God’s Conceptual Art show every morning.

      • I got up at 5 as usual! But the sun didn’t come up till a bit later. Sometimes I wish I could sleep in, but then I would miss the sunrise, and wouldn’t that be sad?
