Live boldly, laugh and make art

Lonely at the lake

The sun had been up for a few minutes, the water was flat, and the mist sat on top of the water. I wanted to be alone.

A few minutes to be alone in the morning before everyone woke up. Time to think and time to pray.

I don’t want to be with people all day. Talking, smiling, eating, living, walking, time to think, early in the morning.

The sun rose and the winds picked up, boats came on the lake and the water was not flat anymore, I couldn’t see the clouds in the water.

The winds picked up on the lake.

Going for a walk, alone.

Feeling lonely in the midst of people. Alone in a crowd.

Standing in the middle of the road. Looking up.

I am not alone.

I am not alone.

Jesus knows we must come apart and rest awhile, or else we may just plain come apart.

  • Beautiful Pamela, the way you describe the strange juxtaposition of loneliness and the serenity of being alone. I guess that is what draws us closer to God.

Pamela- I like how you paint with words…I welcome lonely times as times of refreshment, although I have experienced the pain of loneliness as well…I love the quote and as I have walked with Jesus…he has taught me the value of the lonely places…they are places where He puts me back together so I can relate better with others 🙂

    • Thank you Kel.

Mmmm…this sounds like the good kind of lonely. The kind of alone which I crave. Beautiful. I especially like the quote! 😉

This piece feels lonely. I know the feeling. Reading the book “quiet” for my book club.

    • The book you are reading sounds interesting. Please tell me more.
