Is your heart worn and broken? “Worn” by Tenth Avenue North

My electrocardilgram

The paper that was printed from the Electrocardiogram machine  showed that my hearts  electrical activity was normal. There was no lack of blood flow to my heart, the heartbeat was normal, it wasn’t too fast, or too slow or irregular. The heart was pumping forcefully enough. The heart muscle was not too thick or too big. The heart values were fine, and the sac around the heart,  the pericarditis, was not inflamed.

The EKG test showed that the heartbeat started in the correct place in my heart. And it showed how long it took for the electrical signal to travel though my heart. The machine was efficient.

But, there was one thing the machine couldn’t measure.

The machine couldn’t measure if my heart was broken. It couldn’t tell how deep the stains are  from past regrets.  The stains are like the purple wine stain on my grey silk suit , in a bistro in Paris in 1986. The stains of bad decisions and cloudy reasoning. They wouldn’t come out. I threw the suit away.

The machine tells me my heart has good electrical signals, but it didn’t tell me The machine can not heal my broken heart. But He would made me can.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

God can mend a heart that’s frail and torn. Will you let him?

  • Great post, Pamela. And you’re right God can mend our broken hearts. Hearts that are torn because of loss or hurts. God can touch them and heal them with his loving hands. And I’m so glad about that. Also glad your heart is strong.

    • Thank you Anne. I will pray for your heart today.
