Live boldly, laugh and make art

Do you have guts? And I don’t mean your bowels.

You have guts

I know you have guts. We all have guts.

Cows have guts, chickens have guts, people have guts and cats have guts. We eat.  We poop. We have guts.

The Random House Dictionary of the English Language, The Unabridged Edition that weighs 9.9 pounds,  said, on page 631:  gut is the alimentary canal between the pylorus and the anus , or some portion of it; the bowels or entrails.

The slang version of guts means courage; stamina; endurance.

The guts I am talking about here are the other guts, the slang version.

“Your biggest failure is the thing you dreamed of contributing but didn’t find the guts to do.” – Seth Godin

Seth Godin is not talking about our bowels. He is talking about courage. I found Mr. Godin’s quote this morning and posted it on my facebook wall. His words followed me around this morning as I ate my breakfast and fed the cats.

You might think failure is getting a bad grade, not getting the job, or not getting your driver’s license the first time you try . Failure is not trying.

Today my guts are working hard. My courage guts, not my bowel guts. My bowel guts work very regularly. They don’t need any special attention.

Tomorrow at ten in the morning I am delivering my paintings to the coffee shop. Proximity Cafe in Pottstown, Pennsylvania will be opening soon. My paintings will be hanging on the wall.

Today is my last day to finish my paintings. They are mostly done. I have to put the hangers on the back of the paintings, and make labels for each painting, giving them names and prices.

You won’t fail.

You can’t fail.

Failure is not trying.

How are your guts today? Your courage guts. Is there something you are afraid to do? Please tell me in the comments. I would love to encourage you.

Do it. ( As long as it is legal that is. Don’t rob a bank, or be mean to your cat.)

The paintings are almost finished.

I like the bold colored critter paintings! I see cats. I see mice. Where is the dog?

    • Hello Kathy,
No dog. Poor Martha, she is so sad. Maybe next time I will paint a dog.
Thank you Kathy. I am happy you like the bold colored critter’s.

  • Janelle

You must feel such a great sense of accomplishment! They look awesome. I wish I could have coffee there surrounded by your paintings. I’m so happy for you.

    • I wish you could too Janelle. I was so happy to hang them.

  • Pamela,
I am so proud of you getting your paintings done. So many people think about what they’d like to do, others just dream about it. You did it! I thought they looked great. Very whimsical, much like your writing. I’m excited for you. How long will they be up there?

    • Hello Anne,
They should be up for several months. We didn’t decide on a firm date. Yes, a dream come true.

      • Pamela,

Jess will be having a show coming up as well. Her paintings. Right now she has a couple photographs in place.

  • This is epic! I can’t wait to see your beautiful paintings. I like what Kath said.

    • Thank you Kathleen,
I am so happy to have finished something.

Pamela You have done it! I would love to see pictures of them on the walls even though I can tell they are going to look awesome because they are bright and beautiful and especially because they are YOU, so excited for you and I know they will bring sunshine to many, how good is that?

    • Hello Kath,
Thank you for your encouragement. I was so excited to hang them. The biggest ones I have to hang next week. I need an 8 foot ladder. They are over 5 feet tall. Sunshine to many sounds wonderful.

  • Bernadette Laganella

Kudos to you Pamela. The paintings look great.

    • Thank you Bernadette.
      Thank you very much. (smile)
