Dear God, “Thank you for my hands.” I don’t want to take my hands for granted. I like my hands. Some people don’t have hands. Some people don’t have fingers on each hand.
My hands are typing on my computer. My family is still asleep. It is black outside my window. My cat Pooh is sitting beside me. He is waiting for his turn to write. He dictates and I type his stories. He writes at the cat who writes.com
Today I want to be more aware of what my hands do. I want my hands to hold the fruit of the spirit today.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
What will you do today with your hands?
Your hands are on the end of your arms. You have two of them. Each hand has five fingers. Your hands will hold a toothbrush and brush your teeth. Your hands will open doors. With your thumb you will pick up a spoon and feed yourself.
What will you today with your hands?
What buttons will you push on the television remote? What shows will you watch today?
I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.
Psalm 101:3a NIV
What food will you pick up with your fingers and thumb and put in your mouth?
When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive. Proverbs 23: 1-3 NIV
Will your hands be gentle today?
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 NIV
In a few hours my family will wake up and I will make breakfast. I will crack open eggs and cook them. I will gently brush my daughter’s hair, and drive to school. I will write a letter and tell my mother I love her. I will hold the door open for a mother holding her child’s hand. I will paint a picture and write a story.
