This morning when I woke up at 5:00 a.m., I fed the cats and then I went to the basement and sat in my chair in front of my computer. I started to write a story about a lost camera. I was going to pretend to be Nancy Drew and write, The Mystery of the Lost Camera. After I had written a few paragraphs, I couldn’t concentrate. The sun hadn’t risen yet and I wanted to be outside attacking weeds, not sitting inside pretending to be a detective.
Using a shovel I attacked the weeds in the flower bed. The weeds are gone.
Now I am preparing to do battle with my basement.
Last week I couldn’t concentrate on writing so I rearranged the furniture in my house. I moved all of my writing books and supplies into the basement. My writing books had been scattered in different areas of the house and I couldn’t remember where I put my Dictionary of Quotations or my copy of Turning Pro.
Now, to get to my painting studio and writing area I have to walk past “the mess in the basement.” The basement I ignore. The basement I will clean, “someday.”
Guess what?
Someday is today.
I have a box of 90, 33 gallon, drawstring, black, garbage bags. I have the tools to succeed. Today is someday.
Is there is a project you are dreading? Did you know, someday is today?
Please tell me in the comments. I would love to chat.
