My bible is open if front of me. Today I am reading Proverbs Chapter 1. Tomorrow I will read Proverbs Chapter 2. And on June 3rd? Yes, you guessed it. On June the third day of June, I will read Proverbs Chapter 3.
Last month I read through the book of Proverbs. I missed a few days. Some mornings I forgot to start my day with the bible and prayer. I started my day reading the news or my e-mail.
I am ashamed to say I am a fool. If you do a word search for fool in the book of proverbs, most of the bible verses for fool apply to me.
Each day I get a little more wise as I seek wisdom and discipline from the proverbs of King Solomon, son of David, King of Israel.
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
2 for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to those who are simple,
knowledge and discretion to the young—
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance—
6 for understanding proverbs and parables,
the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Every day as I am seek wisdom and discipline, my foolish ways become less foolish.
Do you seek wise counsel? Are you foolish? Do you start your day with the bible? What do you like to read in the morning?
Well, I sure asked you a lot of questions. Please answer just one question, or all of them, or none.
I hope your day is full of wisdom, and you are not foolish today.
Would you like to read through the book of Proverbs with me this month?
