Last weekend I didn’t pick any weeds. The flower beds in the front of the house were neglected because I took up Jeff Goins Potty Train Your Passion Challenge (#PTYPC). I have to learn a new skill and get paid for it in 48 hours.
I will be painting original water color drawings and making prints to sell on my account on Shopify. HERE THEY ARE!
The challenge started at 3:00 CT on Saturday, May 2nd. And it ends on Monday May 4th at 3:00 P.M. CT.
(So, how would you like to own an original Pamela Hodges watercolor?)
Jeff and his wife spent last weekend potty training their son Aiden. Through the process of potty training Jeff came up with curious idea of using the potty training principles to learn a new skill. He developed The three d’s to get something done. “The decision to start. The determination to see it through. And the discipline to stick with it until the end. ” 1
1. The decision to start.
Right after I decided to accept Jeff’s #PTYPC challenge I cleaned cat and dog hair off of the staircase. It is hard for me to create when I know the staircase is covered in cat and dog hair. Now I know why I never get anything done.
I have wanted to try painting with water-color and making prints to sell for months. But I have had trouble starting, or I have trouble ignoring the cat and dog hair on the staircase. A deadline, and a fun challenge helped me focus on being creative. And, I really didn’t want to weed the flower beds this weekend.
2. The determination to see it through.
Thankfully I am already potty trained, so I was able to focus on the drawing and painting. My art will be on Shopify early tomorrow afternoon. I am determined. (here it is)
A deadline and being accountable will help you see you though a project. (If you are like me and start ten million projects, but only finish the weekly clean underwear project.)
3. The discipline to stick with it until the end.
This afternoon I didn’t weed the flower beds. Sigh, but I did watch a short video on facebook where a little girl laughed when she sprayed her dog from a garden hose.
But, tonight I am not watching Parks and Recreation re-runs with my daughter. I am drawing and painting and updating my cart on Shopify.
Here is the link to my Shopify account. Original Art by Pamela Hodges
There will also be signed prints available for $20.00 I will have those up for sale at the end of the week.
Everything seems to take longer than I think it will. The challenge was fun. Now I have to go and feed my children and clean the seven litter boxes.
